“God’s Good Pleasure Series”
World Communion Sunday
Theme verse for this series: “It is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” – Philippians 2:13
Invitation to Worship: from Psalm 147
Leader: Praise the Lord!
People: How good it is to sing praises to our God
Leader: or he is gracious, and a song of praise is fitting
People: He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names
Leader: Great is our Lord, and abundant in power
People: his understanding is beyond measure
Leader: the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him,
All: in those who hope in his steadfast love
Creating and Sustaining God, You call us to be your light in the darkness, your voice in the wilderness, your hope for the hopeless. You give us strength in our weakness, peace and gentleness, words and boldness, to proclaim more of you and of us, less. We are participants in the work of this church, in your work in this world. Help us to boldly proclaim your presence in our lives as we share the Good News with your world and work to be your hands, feet and voice in this, your created world. In the name of the one who invites your kingdom to come, we pray, “Our Father…”
Scripture: Philippians 4:15-20
Message: God’s Good Pleasure in our Participation
Theme: We are participants in the work of this church, in the work of God in this world. What does that look like for us?
