22 Apr A Message from Pastor Cherie
How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me? Look on me and answer, Lord my God
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death, and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me. – Psalm 13
My dear St. Giles family,
What a heart-breaking week we’ve had. We started our Sunday hearing the tragic news from Nova Scotia and we watched as the country grieved throughout the week. The country-wide outpouring of support and love showed that we are here for each other in the midst of our time of social distancing. When friends and family could not gather together for support, when arms could not comfort, and hands could not reach out, we offered our comfort from afar. We prayed, we cried, we showed our strength as Canadians and as Christians.
This time of sorrow will not define us. This time of pandemic will not define us. They will REFINE us. They will make us better people, stronger people, more compassionate people. These times will show us what it means to be Christ in the world, offering comfort, teaching, healing and encouraging. These times will enable us to see God in the every day. They will give us courage to stand up for what is right and good, and to share our faith. Will you share your stories of faith with friends? Maybe considering sharing our services or this letter with others?
Now for some more sad news. We will not be resuming our Sunday morning in person worship services until June7. We are conscious of wanting to ensure the safety of everyone during this time. BUT!! We are still live-streaming our Sunday morning message on Facebook and then it will be available on our website later each day. I will also have a copy of my message available for any who would wish to read it instead. Some information is attached about our service for Sunday, prayers, scripture and devotions. Please consider sharing it with your circle…
As we continue to worship apart, we hope that you will still consider your offerings to the work of our church which remains ongoing. You can put your envelopes in the mail slot at the church (I am there every day or 2 checking things), you can send an e-transfer to email@example.com (if you need help with this, call me), you can donate on our website or you can call myself and I will make other arrangements with you. Thank you for supporting our family at this time.
Please know that I am here for you, to listen, anytime. Call me, text me, email me, I’m always available for you. Missing you all. Be safe, be well, you are beloved.
