Invitation to Worship: from Psalm 105
Leader: O give thanks to the Lord, call on his name, make known his deeds among the peoples.
People: Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wonderful works.
Leader: Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
People: Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually.
Leader: Remember the wonderful works he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he has uttered,
All: Praise the Lord all you people. Amen.
Opening Prayer: by John van de Laar
Merciful God, give us the same attitude as Jesus, who emptied himself and was obedient to you all the way to his death on the cross. Make us eager to put others before ourselves, and their needs before our own. We ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. And in His words we pray, “Our Father…”
Scripture: Philippians 2:1-13
Message: God’s good pleasure in our presence
Theme: Putting the best interests of others before our own. Easy to say, harder to do?
