Labour Day, Communion
Invitation to Worship: by Joanna Harader
Leader: God of wind and fire,
All: When you send your Spirit, we are created anew.
Leader: God of mighty oceans and still waters,
All: When we receive your baptism, we are born anew.
Leader: God of bread and wine,
All: When we eat at your table, we are nourished anew.
Leader: So pour out your Spirit
All: Let sacred waters flow
Leader: Fill us with holy food.
All: May our hearts and our hands be open wide to receive your gifts of life. Amen.
Worker God, whose hands built the earth, molded our bodies, and sowed the stars across the sky, we gather in your presence this morning with praise and thanksgiving for your mighty deeds. Meet us here.
Worker God; strengthen our hearts and our hands to work with you in the building of a world filled with justice and peace.
Worker God; build in us your patience, your diligence, your wisdom, so that we might know you better and serve you with willing hearts, minds and bodies.
In the name of the one who toiled among us, and in His words we pray, “Our Father…”
Scripture: Luke 14: 1, 7-14
