“Resurrection to Ascension” Guest Speaker Phil Warner
Invitation to Worship: from Psalm 23
Leader: The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
People: He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul
Leader: He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
People: Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil
Leader: for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me
People: You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies
Leader: You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows
People: Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life
All: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen.
Lord, we know that faith sees what the natural eyes cannot see. It sees the answer to life’s problems. We acknowledge that doubt sees what currently is and no more. We believe that hope sees what can be but is not yet. Faith sees what is and will be. The seeing of faith is not seeing with the physical eyes; it is a seeing of the heart. Just like the hearing of faith is not hearing with physical ears, but rather, with the ears of the human spirit. Faith is not mere confidence. Faith is not trying to believe. Faith is what we hold in our hearts as a certainty. This surety can only come from someone who knows and holds the future in His hands. We place ourselves in your hands, faithful God. We pray in the words of the Son, “Our Father…”
Scripture: John 10: 19-31
